The Rack design and layout takes in to account the number and size of devices that will go into the rack, where the placement of each device best suits proper airflow and heat distribution. This phase also takes into account the load of all devices and which PDU's will best support the design and future expansion. This phase also takes into account the heat and cooling distribution, hot and cold aisles, and how air will be managed. 

Power and colling is an often-overlooked part of a datacenter build out. We at PTS take all the devices that will be in the datacenter and calculate their power consumption both min and max to determine the maximum power needed for the project. We also take into consideration future growth. We also calculate the maximum BTU of each device and work with HVAC engineers to correctly spec out cooling systems and placement. We also work with Certified Electricians to properly provide power to the data center racks. 

Wire management and design can be a bit of an art. We have all seen the back of some racks that look like spaghetti. While aesthetics is important in wire management, more importantly is the proper routing and termination of wires. Many often forget that what travels through these wires is electricity and this generates a measure of heat. Heat is the enemy of effective data flow. At PTS we have years of experience in proper wire management and termination as well as following the TIA and ISO wiring standards.
